The International Space Station orbits in the thermosphere nearly 200 miles above the Earth's surface. Since construction began on the ISS in 1998, many space flights have carried parts and supplies to assemble this marvel of engineering. One of its primary missions is to serve as a platform for laboratory experiments and observations that help to improve our understanding of a number of scientific fields.
In the Gateway to Technology class, we will study and apply principles in science, technology, engineering, and math. Students will use hands-on, problem-based learning to work on a variety of activities and projects. We will study some of the various fields of engineering and research how technology impacts our daily lives. This class will provide students with hands-on opportunities to develop their skills with tools, measurements, drawings, assembling parts, and building different types of objects and mechanisms.
