"You can design, create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the design a reality." Walt Disney
Design and Modeling
Buildings and other structures are designed with many considerations towards engineering, aesthetics, materials, and function. Drawings and plans are used to communicate how to build structures such as houses, stores, and factories. Notice the different types of designs in buildings the next time you're traveling around town or are on vacation.
In the Design and Modeling section of the course, students will learn how to use various tools for taking measurements, making calculations, and applying them to drawings. They will develop and apply problem-solving skills in building different types of objects. Students will also learn to make 3D computer drawings on AutoDesk Inventor software.

Automation and Robotics
The Mars Curiosity is a science laboratory operated by NASA engineers that has been exploring the Martian surface since it landed in August 2012. It is about 3 meters (10 ft.) long and carries a number of sensors and instrumentation that allows scientists to gather and analyze data about Mars.
In the Automation & Robotics course, students will learn how to build and use different types of mechanisms that affect mechanical motion (gears, cams, shafts). We will apply these mechanisms as we construct automated devices to perform various tasks. Students will use logic skills to program these devices using RobotC computer software. |
"Men love to wonder, and that is the seed of science." Ralph Waldo Emerson
